Brushing at home so tangles never win

Line-brush from the skin out — ten minutes, two or three times a week.

A curly golden labradoodle

A coat can look smooth on top and still be tangled underneath, because we only brush the surface. Try this instead.

1. Part the coat in lines

Hold the coat up with one hand and brush the layer below down from the skin, one line at a time.

2. Follow with a comb

If a metal comb glides to the skin everywhere, there are no tangles left.

3. The usual hiding spots

Behind the ears, under the legs, around the collar and inside the back legs.
